I had a bit of a revelation recently when it came to the universe of my book, The Eyes of Jolene. While cyborgs are very prevalent in the world, there are also what I call “synths” in that universe, which are like cyborgs except their parts are meant to imitate flesh and bones. The initial implication was that some people are synths because they’ve lost a limb, mobility, whatever and it’s like nothing happened. Somehow it never occurred to me that body mods for synths would go beyond what is “normal”. Which means I can create any sort of fantasy and unrealistic character design without adding more aliens races or creating fantasy elements in-universe. It’s all just technology and aesthetics. So here’s a blue-skinned six armed synth character that you hopefully will see in The Heart of Tesal, but lord knows when that’s getting released…
