I’ve recently returned to Instagram and started posting stuff there. However, since I don’t draw stuff with the purpose of posting on Instagram anymore, I’ve decided to change the aspect ratio of my drawings from square to 3:4 (or 4:3). Not sure why I’ve waited until I’m back on Instagram to do this, but whatever better late than never. I’ve also stopped cropping my webcomic panels for slides. I’m taking a much more passive approach with Instagram, it’s just there as an up-to-date gallery.
Besides the technical stuff, I wanted to try a drawing using one colour after seeing a Pinterest drawing of an manga girl (black and white) and subsequently being reminded of a video where a guy coloured in a drawing he did using only one or two colours (I will never be able to find this video again for the remainder of my lifespan). I also included a broken cross hatch shading technique that I saw on a Fire Force illustration to give me a little more to work with. After adding a static texture over the teal areas and chromic aberration, the piece really came together. Though yet again, I made the munchkin look taller than she really is.
